And so it begins!

After much planning and anticipation, I have finally begun my blog. It will most likely consist of musings about bacon and a step-by-step plan of taking over the world. It will also include my thoughts on living an orthodox Catholic life in the middle of contemporary America.

I have called my blog Radical Catholic, because that is what I hope to be. Not radical in the leftist revolutionary sense, not radical in the sense of "cool" or "popular", but radical in the original sense of the word.

"Radical" comes from the Mediaeval Latin radicalis which means "root" or "source". I believe that being a Catholic should affect every facet of one's life, down to their very core. So often in today's world, we are expected to privatize our religion, and it is considered rude or worse to take our beliefs to work or school or our political lives. I do not believe that privatized religion is what Jesus advocated, and that has never been what the Church has taught. One of the points of this blog is to combat that mentality.
